When I moved into apartment 108, I was aware that the previous owner had died in suspicious circumstances, but I didn't care. I'd never believed in ghosts, so I ignored the rumors and settled into my new home. However, I wasn't in long before strange things started to happen; lights switching on and off on their own; objects moving; temperature changes. At first, I thought it was my imagination, but worse was to come. One night, I was disturbed by a noise. I woke to find a shadow hanging over my bed. It was swinging back and forth, and naturally, I was scared. When I turned on the light, it was gone. A few nights later, I was talking on the phone to a friend. I just happened to mention the word suicide. Suddenly, I heard an ear-splitting noise from upstairs. The bathroom window had smashed into thousands of pieces. Had I been there at the time I would have been cut to ribbons. Feeling scared and vulnerable, I asked a friend to stay for a few nights. In the morning, she told me she heard voices coming from the landing. It was an argument between a man and a woman. When she went to investigate, there was nothing there. I was afraid for her, but relieved that it wasn't just me. After a few more sleepless nights, I decided to do some detective work. My neighbors were rather reluctant to reveal the truth; not surprising when you consider what happened. The previous tenant was murdered by an obsessive lover. He knocked her unconscious and hung her body in the bedroom to make it look like suicide. He was eventually tried and convicted of murder. Needless to say, I have put the flat back on the market. However, now I have a dilemma. Shall I tell the new tenant about the uninvited guest?Jenny Beeson, England
