My mum’s friend Julie died from leukemia. She left behind her husband Steve and young son Daniel. On Daniel’s first day of school, Steve took the day off work. That morning he dressed Daniel in his uniform and took him to school. When Steve got back home he went upstairs and as he was walking up the stairs he could smell Julie’s perfume (this was a year and a half after she died). He thought nothing of it and just thought that it was because Julie had been on his mind with it being Daniel’s first day at school and wishing she could have been there. When Daniel finished school his Gran (Julie’s mum) had gone to collect him. As he came walking out she gave him a big hug and said “Don’t you look handsome in your uniform” and Daniel just replied “that’s what mum said this morning”. This obviously took his Gran by surprise. When she got home she told Steve what Daniel had said, and Steve told her that he had smelt Julie’s perfume that morning. It didn’t scare either of them. They found it comforting to know that she didn’t miss Daniel’s first day of school. Donna, Bolton, England
