My friend Kerry's house is relatively new. It has a great back porch that overlooks the water. I love hanging out there. One afternoon, we sat out on that porch smoking cigarettes and watching a thunderstorm roll in. Through flashes of lightening, I thought I saw the figure of a woman hanging from a tree. Kerry's mom confirmed my fears by telling us the history of the property. A young couple had farmed the land back in the 1970's. They were having problems, and in a fit of violence, the husband knocked his wife out and hung her from a tree. He claimed that it was a suicide, but the truth was quickly discovered. I gotta admit that the whole thing makes the house seem ever more appealing!
