Patricia Abraham Was Murdered |
|
I was spending the night at my cousin's. I was a bit anxious because I'd heard so many stories of this "haunted house", and I believed in that type of thing. The house was once a slave's quarters, so you can imagine the misery that it has seen. There were even bloodstains on the basement walls! We were sleeping on the couch in the living room when we heard footsteps upstairs. The cat started going crazy…she knew! We held each other in fear, waiting for it to end. Then, my cousin looked at me like he was possessed and-- in a voice that came from who-knows-where-- said, "Patricia Abraham was murdered." The next door we began our research project. After weeks of reading old newspapers and looking through records, we discovered that one of the slaves on the property had been named Patricia Abraham. She died in 1850. The death certificate said that it was an accidental death. Supposedly, she had tripped on the stairs and broke her neck in the fall. For what it's worth, we know the truth: Patricia Abraham was murdered. Kyle, MA
