As far back as I can remember, my family has been plagued by spirits. My grandmother would be the first. It all started in Jamaica, 1955. Granny had four kids. She woke up to a crybaby who was in need of a midnight snack. As she breast fed, she heard whimpering and crying from an unknown source outside her front door. It was strange because all her children were fast asleep. She paid no attention at first, but the noise grew louder and woke my grandfather. All types of things went running through her mind… As a child, she remembered her mom told a story about a woman and her two twin daughters that were killed by a duppie (it means ghost in Jamaican). Now she's cursed to walk the streets with her two crying babies. If she catches you outside, you will never be seen again. My granny decided to peek out her window. To her horror, there was a woman there, with two crying babies in her arms. My grandfather grabbed a container of holy water sprinkled it on grandmother, who had fainted. When she finally came to, she told my pop-pop that the ghost was trying to take her baby. The thing is, my grandmother had no idea that she actually was pregnant again. When the baby girl was born nine months later, she had the same sad eyes of the duppie. Anonymous
