A serious fan of Anne Rice's "Vampire Chronicles" and "Mayfair Witches" series, Dickinson has crafted this guidebook on the theme of the New Orleans depicted in the books and the 1994 movie Interview with the Vampire. The result is a serviceable guide to the usual New Orleans sites: the French Quarter, the Garden District, cemeteries, and some of the former plantations on the Mississippi River, like the aptly named Oak Alley. Dickinson ignores modern features such as the Superdome and the Aquarium of the Americas, as well as the cultural life (jazz!) of the Crescent City. The disclaimer says that the book has not been approved by Rice or her publisher, so it contains plenty of fan-inspired speculation about the two series. Suitable only for libraries with big Anne Rice collections.

Do you know that New Orleans is the home of the vampires? The real, bloodthirsty vampires? They arrived here hundreds of years ago, and sought refuge in the many cemeteries that dot our city, and in the swamps that surround us. The undead creatures fell in love with the area, and decided to make New Orleans their home. So please, continue to turn these pages and see how close they are to you. Who knows, something deadly may be tracking you now.

This inside look at the bizarre social phenomenon surrounding Anne Rice novels is as fascinating as her breathtaking stories. Includes photographs and interviews from the 1995 and 1996 "Gatherings, " hosted by Anne Rice each Halloween. 100+ photos, 16 in color.

Now completely updated, here is the fascinating biography of the woman behind the most richly conceived "children of the night" in the history of vampire literature. Includes new material on the writing of Lasher and the filming of Interview with the Vampire. 16 pages of photos.
